Gauhati Town Club look a pileup on the misery for Ankurjyoti Club, who are coming on the back of a five-wicket loss against Bud CC. After being able to post a total of just 42 – the lowest in any innings of the 2024 Assam T20 Pride Cup, Ankurjyoti Club had little choice of being able to defend the match against Bud CC. Meanwhile, GTC will look to play some cricket following the abandonment of the match against New Star Club. The last game for GTC was their four-wicket loss against Bud CC.
Despite only taking up two victories from the eight matches this season, GTC are just a couple of victories away from moving closer to the top three. The same cannot be said about Ankurjyoti Club, who remain winless after seven matches.

Gauhati Town Club enter into the penultimate match of the Assam T20 Pride Cup with expectations of a strong finish. The team has had no victories since meeting Ankurjyoti Club on September 5. This barren run has seen the team struggle just one place above the bottom. A victory in the game could act as a significant push on the right side for GTC, who are now just two points away from catching Bud CC in third place.
Bishal Sharma leads the scoreboard for GTC with 152 runs from his six innings at an average of 25.33. Arnab Borah could not add to his total of 131 runs from his six innings after the game against New Star Club was abandoned. Both these players will be key against an Ankurjyoti Club who have struggled with the ball. Ankurjyoti Club have struggled to pick up wickets in many of the matches this season.
GTC’s Kangkan Talukdar is only three wickets shy of becoming the top wicket-taker in the tournament – a title currently held by Bikash Chetri of the River Rine Club with 14 wickets from eight matches. Talukdar has had only five innings so far.

Ankurjyoti Club were crushed by a very poor performance against Bud CC. After folding down for just 42 runs, the only way up for AC will be to come up with a strong performance against GTC. Only Simanta Roy was able to enter into double figures after managing 11 runs from his 14 balls. Even the likes of Victor Kashyap, who have been very consistent so far this season, failed to deliver.
After the disastrous batting performance against Bud CC, there has been no change in the leaderboard when it comes to scoring runs for AC. Victor Kashyap remains the top batsman with 134 runs from his seven innings average of 26.8. Even though AC have been involved in seven matches already, they have scored 100+ runs only on three occasions.
The bowlers have been unable to build on the poor performance of batsmen. It is staggering that AC have been unable to pick up more than five wickets in any of the matches this season. It is no wonder that none of the AC bowlers make it to the leaderboard for most wickets. Akshat Gupta and Ranjan Sarkar were able to manage two wickets each in the loss against Bud CC.

The last two games which have been completed on the Nehru Stadium have witnessed scores less than 100 in each innings. The game involving New Star Club and City Cricket Club was the last to witness a total of 200+. The pitch is expected to remain difficult for batsmen. The weather conditions are expected to be perfect for this match with partly cloudy conditions and a maximum 10% probability of rain.
The Nehru Stadium has witnessed consecutive scoring matches with the pitch favouring bowlers in recent games. The difficulty seen for the batsman in the recent match between Bud CC and Ankurjyoti Club – a total of just 85 from the two innings – may persist. GTC and AC have averaged 95 and 85 runs in the last five games respectively.
The preference amongst teams in the 2024 campaign may be to bat first but only 20% of the last five matches has witnessed a team batting first come out successful. River Rine Club are the only team to have enjoyed success in the recent five matches while batting first and even they required the Duckworth Lewis method. The toss winner may choose to bowl first in this game.
Ankurjyoti Club might have reached the final last season but the team has had a horrendous 2024 season. Even after seven matches, Ankurjyoti Club are waiting for their first win of the season. The wait is likely to continue against a Gauhati Town Club outfit who are capable of some decent results. The likes of Bishal Sharma can help propel GTC to a decent victory.
Our prediction is for Gauhati Town Club to win
