We are in the 2nd Quarterfinal of the Metro Bank One-Day Cup 2024. Defending champions Leicestershire Foxes will be up against the Hampshire Hawks in this knockout game. Leicestershire Foxes finished second in Group 2, while the Hampshire Hawks finished third in Group A. Both teams will look to put forward their best show in this game.

Leicestershire Foxes have enjoyed a good record against the Hampshire Hawks. They have won the last three games between the two teams. Playing at home, the side would look to leverage their knowledge of the conditions. The Hawks won't be a pushover, and we expect a close contest.

Leicestershire Preview

Lewis Hill's side confidently enters this contest with three consecutive wins. The side defeated Gloucestershire by 4 wickets in the last game under the DLS method. The defending champions started the season slowly but have picked form at the right time. Hill would like to see key players perform strongly in this game.

Ian Holland and Soloman Budinger missed out in the last game and shall look to deliver a strong start. Lewis Hill must hold the innings together in the middle order and add runs with Peter Handscomb and Ajinkya Rahane. They will also expect runs in the lower middle order from Ben Cox and Liam Trevaskis.

The bowling attack did well in the last game, and the side would expect wickets with the new ball from Roman Walker and Ian Holland. Liam Trevaskis and Tom Scriven bowled good spells in the last game and will be confident. The team needs a good performance from Alex Green and Louis Kimber in the ing role.

Hampshire Preview

Nick Gubbins' side defeated Middlesex by 19 runs to book a berth in this round. The side played well in the last game but has struggled with consistency this season. It will be a tough challenge for them against the Foxes, and Gubbins will look to lead from the front and take his side to a win.

Nick Gubbins and Fletcha Middleton have done well at the top, and the team expects a good start from the pair. Tom Prest and Ben Brown batted well in the last game and are looking to build partnerships with Liam Dawson. The side will also need a good show from Toby Albert in the lower middle order after his match-winning knock in the last game.

Mohammad Abbas and Kyle Abbott will look to bowl tight spells with the new ball and put the opponents under pressure. Dominic Kelly and Brad Wheal must bowl tight spells in the middle overs, as the Foxes have a strong batting lineup. Liam Dawson and Felix Organ complete a strong attack for the team.

Weather Conditions

We expect clear skies over Leicester, and the conditions will be slightly tricky for the batsmen against the new ball. The wicket will ease as the ball gets older, allowing batsmen to play their strokes. Hence, the side batting first in this game shall aim for 280 runs on the scoreboard.

Img cricket stadium

Grace Road, Leicester, is a small venue and has been a favorite ground for the batsmen. They can play through the line; we have had big scores here. However, the track also offers good assistance to the fast bowlers. It isn't the best venue for the spinners as the small size of the venue makes it difficult for them to contain batsmen.

Toss: To Bowl

It is a tricky wicket at the start, but the conditions ease once the batsmen get set in. Teams have preferred to chase scores here as batting conditions improve in the second half. The side winning the toss won't hesitate to bowl first.

The Hampshire Hawks have failed to show consistency this year despite having big names in the side. They have a poor record against the Leicestershire Foxes and must be at their best to win. The Foxes play at home and have experienced batsmen in the side. It will be a close game, but the Leicestershire Foxes have a slight edge.
