The two youngest teams in IPL history are going to be locking horns with each other at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. Only two seasons old in the IPL, both the teams will be hoping to press their claims that they’ve the squad and the resources to go all the way.
Gujarat Titans, the more accomplished of the two, with a title win in the first and a runner up trophy in the second, wouldn’t be so jubilant with how they’re placed in the tournament as of writing this piece.
With 2 wins and 2 losses so far, they find themselves in the 7th position with four points from 4 games; whereas, Lukcnow Super Giants, who Gujarat have dominated in the head to head thoroughly, are at the 4th spot level on points having played one game less though.
GT will be taking heart from the fact that they’ve not let LSG get the better of them, and LSG will come into the match with a point to prove.

A bewildering, boundary-less age that stretched to over 45 balls in the last phase of the game saw LSG fall short by 7 runs in pursuit of 136 runs against GT at home last year.
But they’ll play like a much more relaxed team this year, considering they’ve received a huge boost from a bowler that has tormented batting attacks with his lethal pace, and a batsman who has set the death overs on fire with the bat in hand- Mayank Yadav and Nicholas Pooran.
LSG’s chances of recording their first ever win would ride on how Yadav and Pooran go about their business. Yadav, with two back to back man of the match performances, will be hoping to crank it up again and test his skills against the formidable batting order of GT. And Pooran will be up for the contest against the likes of Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmed etc.
Quinton de Kock regaining his touch is a big advantage for LSG, given the kind of starts he could provide at the start of the innings. And Marcus Stoinis getting match-fit to bowl is another plus for LSG going deep into the competition.
Lucknow Super Giants scored 54,54 & 47 runs in the first 6 overs in the last three matches and are averaging 52 runs in the powerplay overs this season. While their opponents Gujarat Titans on average conceded 57.75 runs per game in the first 6 overs this season.

Gujarat Giants’s dominance of Lucknow Super Giants whenever they’ve met them is evident in their 4-0 head to head record. But the Giants don’t look as convincing and threatening as they were in the past two seasons. With Hardik Pandya moving on to another franchise, Shubman Gill has had his challenges marshalling the troops.
On personal form, Gill was a bit up and down, but he made some 89 runs against Punjab Kings to take them close to 200, their highest in the competition yet. They lost that match against Punjab Kings from a strong position, which is not good. Their bowlers couldn’t quite mop up the tail and let the Kings tail score 50 runs off 4.2 overs to pick up their second loss of the tournament.
Mohit Sharma and Noor Ahmed look convincing and commanding with the ball, whereas Rashid Khan, Umesh Yadav and the rest of the attack have looked good in patches but ordinary otherwise.
The left handed batsman has been the most consistent run-scorer for Gujarat Titans this season. He has notched up scores of 33, 45, 37 & 45 this season. Considering his recent form and scores, we believe he is a bankable player to bet on to score over 20.5 runs.

Low scoring affairs are common here given the slow-ish decks and huge boundary dimensions on offer. The batting-friendly strip on the LSG vs PBKS game here produced a run aggregate of over 375, which was encouraging. The weather forecast for the night encounter is good and there should be no interruption throughout the match.

Average TurnThe match will take place at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, where GT bowled exceptionally well to restrict the home team to 128 runs to win by 7 runs.
The last match played at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Stadium in Lucknow the total aggregate score is 377 runs. The pitch is expected to favour the batsman with even bounce and given the batting form of both the teams, we predict the total aggregate score to be over 349.5 runs.
Both teams always look to give their batting unit the best use of the batting conditions, but LSG more so. We expect the team winning the toss to have a bat first unless there’s significant dew on offer.
LSG are matching up well to GT, given the way they’re playing their cricket and GT’s dip in form. If Pooran light things up with his late order blitz and if Mayank Yadav come charging in and bowl some wheels, LSG will be hard to catch.
Our prediction is for Lucknow Super Giants to win this contest.
