Netherlands and Nepal get to meet each other just months after their recent tri-nation series. Nepal do not have great expectations and the minnows have reached the T20 World Cup finals for the first time since 2014. Netherlands, on the other hand, have been showing massive improvements in their game and they can no longer be taken for granted by the opposition. Both teams have been placed in the deadly group D with South Africa, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh along the ranks.
The group D action kicks off on June 3 and carries on until June 16. The pivotal clash between the Netherlands and Nepal takes place at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, Texas. After this clash, both teams head out into difficult games against South Africa and Sri Lanka respectively.
Dutch youngster Aryan Dutt displayed excellent form during the warm-ups and he will be hoping for a big impact in the first game. Rohit Paudel has hit the maximum runs for Nepal in the last 12 months.
Netherlands come on the back of poor performances in the tri-nation series with Ireland and Scotland. However, they were able to bounce back with a 20 run win over Sri Lanka in the recent warmup. The nation were also able to enjoy a comfortable set of wins over Nepal back in March. The team has progressed immensely in the last few years and they are now regulars at the T20 World Cup stages.
Sybrand Engelbrecht was a star for Netherlands in the tri-nation series involving Nepal. He came up with 150+ runs along with 5+ wickets. Michael Levitt and Max O’Dowd showed excellent form in the recent tri-nation series involving Ireland and Scotland as they came up with 102 and 123 runs respectively. O’Dowd has been able to pick up 1700+ runs from his 66 T20I games while Michael Levitt averages an impressive 43 from his nine games in this format. Levitt had a half-century in the warmup game against Sri Lanka.
Logan van Beek leads the pack of close with his 29 wicket haul from just 26 T20I games. Paul van Meekeren has averaged 20.9 after picking up 69 wickets so far from his 60 T20I games.

Nepal have had a disted effort in the warmup matches. After a thrashing at the hands of Canada, the team saw their game against the United States get washed out. Nepal have had poor form even in the tri-nation series with Netherlands. There is not much of a strength in the batting line-up for Nepal and it has worked to their disadvantage in many of the recent matches.
A lot hinges upon the performances of Dipenda Singh Airee if the team are to get anything out of the game. His deadly strike rate will be crucial for Nepal. Airee holds the record for the fastest half-century in T20 history following his effort in just nine ball in 2023.
Rohit Paudel has been one of the consistent performers for Nepal in recent times. In the T20 format, the 21-year-old has an impressive strike rate of 125 and an average of 29. Paudel came up with a half-century and 46 runs in two of his last three games against Netherlands.

There is expected to be decent for pacers while spin bowlers might struggle. There is a 95% probability of thunderstorms and rain. It should be ed that Grand Prairie Stadium’s previous match ended as a washout.

Average TurnThe ground is likely to have favourable conditions for batsmen to score runs. The pace bowlers are likely to enjoy the surface whereas spin bowlers may not get so much assistance on the ground.
The first innings average score from the last 10 matches at the Grand Prairie Stadium is 161. The second innings average score comes at 133. Considering the weather and pitch conditions, the team which wins the toss is likely to elect to bat.
Dutch cricket has been growing in leaps and bounds. The match is once again likely to be a stage where the Netherlands comfortably overcome Nepal. Nepal have also been in poor form for a while. Just like in the recent tri-nation series matches between the two, Netherlands are likely to have the upper hand quite comfortably.
Our prediction is for Netherlands to win
