There is plenty of excitement around the cricketing world as Netherlands Women and USA Women meet in a bilateral series for the first time, starting on Saturday.

Although both teams begin the week outside the top 14 positions in the ICC WT20I team rankings, both sides are on the up and it by no means a foregone conclusion that 15th ranked Netherlands will defeat USA in 24th.

The last time the Netherlands Women took to a cricket pitch in this format, they got over the line by the slimmest of margins - beating Netherlands Women by one wicket with zero balls remaining.

That was in Kirtipur in February and Babette de Leede will no doubt be delighted to be back on home soil in front of their own fans for this potentially tricky opening game of the series against USA Women.

Netherlands Women will be looking for better performances with both bat and ball from the side in this game than against Thailand Women when they took a combined five wickets although Iris Zwilling was the standout performer with three of them!

USA Women continue to improve across all formats and they will have picked out this tour as one where they can cause an upset over the next week or so.

Beginning in Amstelveen, defeat would by no means spell the end of the series, but all the indications are that Adbita Chudasama's side will be going all out for the victory on Saturday.

Gargi Bhogle is a quick and free-scoring batter in the middle order with the likes of Chetna Padydyala, Isani Vaghela and Chudasama likely to look to lay a foundation at the top of the order.

With the ball, expect Vaghela to lead the attack with Chetnaa Prasad and skipper Chudasama also very threatening on this pitch. Geetika Kodali will also bowl with good pace with the new ball.
