Host North West will be looking to continue their decent form when they take on Western Province in the eighth match of the CSA T20 Challenge 2024 played at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom on Friday.

In their opening match, North West managed to eke out a close win over Knights, courtesy excellent performances from Wihan Lubbe, Janneman Malan and Duan Jansen. With this result, North-West managed to their first win of the competition.

In the batting department, the side will be relying on the likes of captain Wihan Lubbe, wicket-keeper Meeka eel Prince, Rubin Hermann, Janneman Malan and Lesiba Ngoepe to deliver the bulk of the runs.

In their opening match, captain Wihan Lubbe was the star of the show with the bat for North West and finished the innings with the top-score of 58 runs off 40 balls with the help of six boundaries and one six. He was well ed by Janneman Malan, who scored 40 runs off 46 balls.

Lesiba Ngoepe also delivered an excellent innings of 32 runs off 19 balls to help North West post a competitive 144 runs for loss of four wickets in 18 overs.

In the bowling department, the side will be relying on the likes of Kerwin Mungroo, Achille Cloete, Caleb Saleka, Migael Pretorius and Duan Jansen to deliver timely breakthroughs.

In the previous match, left-arm pacer Duan Jansen was the pick of the bowlers for North West and claimed 3 for 30 in his four overs.

Last season, left-arm spinner Kyle Simmonds topped the bowling charts for Western Province and claimed 17 wickets at an economy rate of 6.76.
