After finishing last season in fifth place with five wins and five losses, and missing out on the playoffs by a small margin due to a negative run rate compared to the Sambhaji Kings and Kolhapur Tuskers, the Raigad Royals have started this season strong and began their campaign in dominant fashion.

Batting first against the Satara Warriors, the Royals scored 190/6. They were in trouble at 42-4, but a magnificent 130-run partnership for the fifth wicket between Rugved More (48 runs in 40 balls) and their skipper Rushab Rathod, who scored a scintillating knock of 80 runs off 45 balls, smashing 6 fours and 5 sixes, powered the Royals to a match-winning score.

Their bowlers then contained the Warriors' batters to 166/7, resulting in a 24-run victory. Nikhil Kadam, with figures of 3/32, and Tanay Sanghvi, with figures of 2/28, were the pick of the bowlers for the Royals.

The Royals have always had the upper hand over the Puneri Bappa. Siddhesh Veer, who scored half-centuries and has amassed 174 runs in two matches against Puneri Bappa, is the batter to watch out for.

The Puneri Bappa finished at the bottom of the table last season with just three wins and seven losses in 10 matches. However, they began their current season with a win over the defending champions, the Ratnagiri Jets, in their last match.

Bowling first in a match that was reduced to 8 overs due to rain, Nikit Dhumal picked up a three-wicket haul where he dismissed the dangerous top-order batting trio of the Jets, including the wickets of Phatangare and Azim Kazi. Roshan Waghsare then picked up one wicket at the end. However, the standout bowler was Ramakrishna Ghosh, who only gave away three runs in two overs.

The Bappa batters then chased down the target in 6.5 overs, thanks to a magnificent opening stand of 51 runs in 4.4 overs from Yash Nahar (18 runs) and Murtaza Trunkwala (32 runs). These two batters provided the impetus for the chase, and the Bappa are now up and running this season.
