Afghanistan U-19 rank third in the Group B points table after failing to prevail in a low-scoring run chase. Some very restrictive bowling from the likes of Aziz and Ghazanfar restricted Bangladesh U-19 to 228. But Afghanistan failed to chase down the par score as they lost wickets in clusters during the middle overs. Faisal Khan Ahmadzai (58 off 58) and Naseer Khan Maroof Khail (34 off 60) tried to hold the fort together during the run chase but destructive bowling from Al Fahad and Hossain Emon crippled the Afghanistan batting lineup as they were bowled out for 183.
However, in recent times, Afghanistan U-19 have fared far better than their rivals by convincingly beating them in all their last five fixtures. Ghazanfar and Maroof Khail are the two youngsters to watch out for. Ghazanfar has already scripted some record-breaking performances in men's cricket of late against South Africa and Bangladesh and has a six-fer in the ODI format. Maroof Khail is a complete package for Afghanistan and has a lot to offer to his side with the bat and the ball. In 7 matches, the youngster averages 22 with the bat while in 8 games, he has taken 9 wickets at an average of 26.33

Sri Lanka are sitting on the top of the tree in the Group B points table after a convincing win in their tournament opener against Nepal U-19. The island nation will look to build upon their early success and secure their second win on the trot.
An average performance from the Lankan openers resulted in early problems for Sri Lanka U-19 in the first game but a composed innings from the keeper Shanmuganathan (62 off 99) and a sublime fifty from Abeysinghe kept Sri Lanka afloat during the middle overs and got them to a respectable score of 233. The bowlers faced some resistance early on the run chase but Maneesha, Thewmika, Mathulan, and Ranjith Kumar chipped in with wickets at key intervals to derail Nepal U-19 and leave them 56 runs short of their desired target.
Shanmuganathan was excellent with the bat in the first game and he will surely be the batter to watch out for as he is currently the highest run scorer for Sri Lanka U-19 in this tournament. Praveen Maneesha had an impressive outing against Nepal U-19 and impressed us all with his uncanny spin-bowling. With figures of 3-30, Maneesha is the second-highest wicket-taker in this tournament.

High TurnThe Sharjah pitch has a reputation for being on the slower side. The new ball does tend to come along quite nicely when it's new but it does not take too long for the Sharjah deck to deteriorate. With time, the dry pitch gets conducive for spinners and the team batting second faces enormous challenges against the turning ball which can often stay low.
Teams have enjoyed batting first at this venue since as many as 134 out of 246 ODI matches have been won by the team batting first with the average score being around 227.In the tournament so far in the two matches played at Sharjah both the matches have been won by the teams batting first and captains that win the toss will have no hesitation in batting first.
Afghanistan's overall track record against Sri Lanka U-19 in the YODI format is highly impressive. In recent times, Afghanistan U-19 have dominated Sri Lanka U-19 winning all their last five fixtures against them. But by looking at the recent form of the two teams in this tournament, we expect Sri Lanka U-19 to just edge past in what might appear to be a closely fought contest.
