Salem Spartans had a disappointing 2023 season where they couldn’t make it to the playoffs after ending the league stage in the seventh position with just two wins. Can this be their year of redemption?

The team will be expecting some big runs from their star all-rounder, Sunny Sandhu. He topped the batting charts for the Spartans last year with 182 runs in just 5 innings at an average of 36 and a strike rate of 138. Sandhu was also the team’s leading wicket-taker, with 10 scalps at an economy of 8.40.

Another batter to watch out for is Muhammed Adnan Khan. The middle-order batter had a successful stint last year, scoring 114 runs in 7 innings at an average of 38 and a strike rate of 165.

Apart from Sandhu, the bowling unit will depend on Sachin Rathi (6 wickets from 7 innings last season at an economy of 7.69).

Siechem Madurai Panthers had a pretty good season last year. They finished fourth on the table with four wins and eight points, which helped them qualify for the playoffs. They lost the Eliminator to Nellai Royal Kings by just four runs.

Suresh Lokeshwar, who scored a fluent 40 in the Eliminator last year, is expected to have a good season this time too. Last season, the opener was among the team’s most successful batters, scoring 163 runs in 5 innings at a strike rate of 117.

Captain Hari Nishanth led from the front last season, blasting 172 runs in 8 innings at an average of 21 and a strike rate of 115.

Jagatheesan Kousik (176 runs in the last 10 matches at a strike rate of 116) is another important batter who can make a difference with his big hits down the order.
