Western Australia will lock horns with Victoria at the W.A.C.A as both teams look for their third straight win of the season. The batters in Western Australia are in good form.
The middle and lower order has stepped up and delivered in back-to-back games and skipper Ashton Turner will be mighty pleased with these performances.
While Victoria struggled on their way to a 225-run target in their opening game, they quickly bounced back in the next match with an improved batting performance.
The middle-order is quite vulnerable in Victoria’s batting lineup but they’ve got a lethal bowling attack and that is their biggest strength coming into this match.
Ashton Turner also leads a promising bowling attack but their strength would be their middle-order. Jason Behrendorff, D Arcy Short, and Andrew Tye are the big guns in their bowling department.

Western Australia secured their second consecutive win of the season in a high-scoring match against South Australia at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane.
Cameron Bancroft, Sam Whiteman, and Ashton Turner played crucial roles in the middle-order taking the team to a 350+ total. Nick Hobson at number played a great finishing knock scoring an unbeaten 64 off 28 balls at number 7.
Josh Philippe and D Arcy Short are a great opening duo and will be the key players for Western Australia. However, Short has been out of touch lately with two consecutive ducks in the season so far.
Short has delivered with the ball however, picking up 5 wickets in the last two outings. WA replaced Lance Morris with Jason Behrendorff in the last match.
We reckon WA would be better with both these bowlers in the attack along with Andrew Tye and Cameron Gannon. D Arcy Short with his leg-break bowling will be crucial in the middle overs.
If he can get through Marcus Harris and Handscomb at 3 and 4 of Victoria’s batting lineup, he will put Western Australia on top of the game.
Nevertheless, Turner and Co. will be facing a tough challenge when they go out to bat. And they will need the key players in the lower-middle order to take a more cautious approach.

Peter Handscomb should be expecting his top-order to deliver in this match. Thomas Rogers, Sam Harper, and Marcus Harris need to play as many deliveries as they can to delay the arrival of batters at number 5 and 6.
Jonathan Merlo and Will Sutherland can bat but we reckon they’d be better for the last 10-15 Overs. The job of the top-order will be crucial along with that of skipper Handscomb in the middle-order who will need to build significant partnerships.
What makes Victoria lethal is their bowling attack. The likes of Scott Boland, Will Sutherland, and Todd Murphy are the key wicket-takers in this side. Bowling all-rounder Fergus O Neill has also looked very promising with some economical spells.
While the opposition has a deep batting lineup that won’t be easy to get through, a few crucial breakthroughs at the right time can dent their innings and put them on the back foot.
The impressive economies of Victoria’s bowlers can put pressure on the batters to quickly score and enforce errors. It will be an exciting contest as these two teams clash with unique sets of strengths.

The pitch is bouncy and fast and has been a nightmare for the batters in the past. Though it has become flatter in recent years, it is still a treat for the pacers to bowl on this surface. The weather will be partly cloudy with a high of 24 degrees Celsius.
W.A.C.A Ground in Perth will be the venue for this match. It is home to Western Australia and should give them a certain advantage. The average 1st innings score here in ODIs is 221 runs. There is enough help on offer for batters to play their strokes freely and a score of 300 is not impossible.
There is not much of an advantage to either batting or bowling first on this ground. However, considering the bowling strengths of both teams, we reckon neither skipper would risk chasing a total and will opt to bat first.
The competition is neck to neck between the two sides and it is not easy to pick a winner between the two. However, considering the depth in the batting lineup of Western Australia and their pace attack, we reckon they will have a slight edge going into this match and start as our favorites.
