WELL vs CD Live Prediction

2025-01-09 11:14:37

Central Stags to Score Over 90.5 Runs in 10 Overs @ 1.80(Parimatch)

The Stags at the end of the powerplay are 57/1, with two spinners bowling from both the ends, the Stags will look to keep the scoring rate going without any risk and score at 9-10 runs per over. With Jack Boyle in good touch and striking it well, we back the Stags to score 34 runs in the next 4 overs.

2025-01-09 10:56:20

Central Stags to Score Over 52.5 Runs in 6 Overs @ 1.80 (Parimatch)

The Stages chasing down a huge target are off to a good start, currently scoring at 9 runs per over. Both the openers are in good touch and have been able to score runs without any trouble. We predict the Stags score to be over 52.5 runs at the end of the powerplay overs.

Wellington Firebirds will take on Central Stags in the 10th match of Super Smash 2024-25 at Basin Reserve, Wellington on 9th January at 8:55 am. Wellington Firebirds, on the other hand, won and lost a game each after two games so far. Central Stags won their previous game against Wellington Firebirds in this season. Can they repeat the same against a strong Firebirds unit?

Wellington Firebirds Preview

Wellington Firebirds have played two matches so far, winning the one against Central Stags while losing the other one against Northern Brave. While they defeated Central Stags in the previous game, this was their first victory after four consecutive defeats in this format.

In the first game against Northern Brave, Wellington batted first to post a score of 160 runs for 8 wickets. At one point they were 5 down for 62 runs in the 10th over. However, Gareth Severin and Nick Greenwood bailed them out with a rearguard effort batting lower down the order.

The defense was not up to the mark though as the Firebirds lost the game in the 19th over by 6 wickets. Wellington Firebirds conceded 60 runs in the first 5 overs, claiming just 1 wicket. The game was lost there itself. They did try to pull things back a little, but the damage done earlier could not be undone.

Their previous game was against the current opponent Central Stags. The Firebirds batted first against the Stags and posted a good score of 190 for 5. Team Robinson and Muhammad Abbas scored valuable 50s. After having the Stags 4 down for 98 runs in the 12th over, they allowed Central Stags to come back into the game and get very close to the target. In the end, the Firebirds won by 11 runs.

Wellington's batting is a little bit of concern as their top two batters Muhammad Abbas and Nick Kelly average between just 25-30 in the last 10 games. The bowling is led by Logan Van Beek with 16 wickets in the last 10 games at a slightly higher economy of 8.74. It will be interesting to see if the Firebirds can repeat their performance against the Stags in the previous game.

Weather Conditions

The weather on the match day at Basin Reserve, Wellington is expected to be partly sunny and breezy. The temperature would range between a high of 19 °C and a low of 13 °C. These are typical Wellington conditions with a little chance of rain on the match day.

WELL vs CD Pitch Report

The venue of the match is Basin Reserve, Wellington. Commonly known as “The Basin”, it is one of the oldest and most iconic cricket stadiums in New Zealand. It opened for cricket in 1868 and has a huge history since then. The first Test was played here in the 1930s. It has hosted several tests, ODIs, and T20 internationals since then. The stadium has a seating capacity of 11,600 spectators. The pitch is typically green and fast, helping the seen bowlers early on in the match.

Toss: To Bowl

This will be the first match of the season at Basin Reserve, Wellington. A total of six women's T20 internationals have been played at this venue, with the team bowling first, winning four of them. There seems to be some help for bowlers at the beginning of the match as the conditions get progressively better for the batters. The team winning the toss should bowl first here.

Central Stags are placed second in the points table after two victories in three games. Wellington Firebirds have just one victory in their first two games. The Firebirds seem to be dependent on their bowling unit, while the Stags have balanced batting and bowling units. Although Wellington defeated the Stags in the previous game, based on the current form, the Central Stags are more likely to win against the Firebirds in this contest.

We predict that Central Stags will defeat Wellington Firebirds.
