They defeated Durham by 42 runs in their first match of the season and have taken second place in the Group A table, behind Gloucestershire. Worcestershire Preview

In their first match of the season, Worcestershire posted a commanding total of 318-9 against Durham at Riverside Ground. There were decent contributions from every batter in the top four, but it was Kashif Ali (76 off 59 balls) and Ben Cox (57* off 49 balls) who helped set the massive score. 

Worcestershire’s bowlers then did a fine job of defending the target on a flat pitch, bowling Durham out for 276.

Captain Jake Libby, who scored 45 off 61 balls in the first match, remains our batter to watch out for. He was the top run-getter on the team last year and looks to be in good form this season too.

In the previous game, two bowlers stood out for Worcestershire - Josh Baker (3-53) and all-rounder Brett D'Oliveira (3-55). The two spinners could prove to be vital components of Worcestershire’s bowling attack this year. Dillon Pennington didn’t have the best of games last match. However, the right-arm fast-medium was the team’s highest wicket-taker last season, and it would be a wise move to back him in your team.

Glamorgan Preview

Glamorgan finished fourth on the table last year in Group B. They had 4 wins and 4 losses from 8 matches, but a poor net run rate of -0.042.

The team will be banking on Colin Ingram to deliver for them again. Over the past several seasons, the South African batsman has been the linchpin of Glamorgan's white-ball batting lineup. Ingram emerged as the top run-getter for Glamorgan in the One-Day Cup last year, scoring 342 runs at an average of 68.40. He also had an impressive average of 47 in the recently-concluded Vitality Blast. The top-order batter is set to play a pivotal role once again in anchoring the team's batting.

Kiran Carlson is expected to lead from the front too. He had a decent season last year, scoring 248 runs in 8 innings at an average of 35.42. He was also the team’s highest wicket-taker with 9 scalps at an average of just 17.

Tom Bevan smashed a glorious 134 runs off just 103 balls in a match-winning effort against Hampshire last year. If given another opportunity, the youngster could prove to be invaluable once again. 

Apart from Carlson, seam bowler Dan Douthwaite (8 wickets in 7 innings at an economy of 6.14 last year) is also worth backing in your team.

The pitch at New Road, Worcester, is a batting beauty. The ball comes nicely to the bat, and batters can play through the line. Since this will be the first match of the season, the pitch should be hard and have an even bounce. Seamers will get some help early on, but once the shine wears off from the ball, batters will make merry.

The weather in Worcester during the match is expected to be cloudy with a couple of heavy thundershowers at some point.
