We are into another week of the 2024 IPL but not a lot has changed. The big runs continue to come on a regular basis with sixes raining down on the spectators more often than not!
It's been excellent entertainment for the global cricketing viewers but not quite as much fun for the bowling attacks with some bowlers in particular coming in for punishment.
And for the teams involved in this clash, CSK and LSG, a win in this fixture will see them going level and mixing it with the sides in second and third place. Can Chennai get revenge for last week's defeat? Read on!

It was a very strange performance from CSK in the reverse fixture last Friday as they laboured to 176/6 from their 20 overs. And in fact, that total would have been a whole lot smaller if it hadn't been for some lusty blows from Moeen Ali (30 runs from 20 balls) at number seven and then the brilliance of MS Dhoni (28 not out from 9 balls) at number eight.
The 176 total meant the bowlers had to search for wickets and LSG were able to pick them off easily as a result. Mattheesa Pathirana was the pick of the bowlers (1/29) although we can perhaps expect to see more of the spinners, Ravidra Jadeja and Moeen Ali, back in Chepauk.
Talking of Moeen, he is in place of Daryl Mitchell, so the pressure is on the Englishman to deliver or else the Black Cap will make a swift return.

It was quite simply a brilliant team performance from Lucknow Super Giants in front of their fans at the Ekana Stadium last Friday. The bowlers were in control for the large part of CSK's innings and then when it came to batting, the line-up produced the goods without ever looking like they would fail.
All of the above is exactly what most pundits would expect from a side led by the cool and calm KL Rahul. And when the keeper-batter makes 82 runs from 53 balls at the top of the order, with Quinton de Kock keeping him company for a first wicket partnership of 134, not much is going to go wrong.
Then you throw in the brilliant Nicholas Pooran to finish any innings and you can see why some fans of Lucknow are quietly confident of success this year.

It is going to be a hot day in Chepauk on Tuesday and we can expect the heat to still be present even by 19:30 in the evening! Not only will it be hot but also very humid throughout this match.

High TurnNo introduction is needed for the venue, Chepauk has hosted many IPL fixtures and continues to provide competitive games with spinners and pacers often in the game. 246/5 is the highest score at this venue but that was back in 2010. We expect a par total in this fixture to be no higher than 175-180.
The average 1st innings score in the last three IPL matches played at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai is 325 runs. The pitch becomes much slower and drier as the tournament progresses and scoring runs can be tough at Chennai in the mid way stages of the tournament.
According to the IPL history books, batting first is the way to go in Chepauk and we predict that both captains will come to the toss wanting to set a target in this game.
After their timid showing on Friday (with the exception of MS Dhoni), we expect to see CSK back to their best with bat and ball in this game. The home fans will not settle for a slow run-rate and we are backing the hosts to come out on top in a close contest against a talented LSG.
We are backing CSK to win this match!
