Lancashire Women Preview

Lancashire Women haven't had the best start to their campaign, losing their first match of the season against The Blaze Women by seven wickets. They then secured a win in their second match against Durham Women by 18 runs. However, Lancashire Women faltered again in their last match, handing Hampshire Women an easy eight-wicket win.

After being put into bat first by Hampshire Women, Lancashire's top order struggled to get going and consumed too many balls. The bright spot was Tilly Kesteven, who scored 28 runs off 40 balls, and Fi Morris then chipped in with 20 runs off 20 balls. However, the most impactful knock once again came from Ailsa Lister, who scored 37 runs off 20 balls, smashing two fours and two sixes. She powered the Lancashire score past the 120-run mark.

With the ball, Lancashire Women never had a chance as Hampshire's strong top order played sensibly and never allowed Lancashire Women to get back into the game. Grace Potts and Darcey Carter were the pick of the bowlers, with one wicket each.

Sophie Ecclestone didn't play the last match and is likely to miss today's match, which further impacts Lancashire Women as she was their main wicket-taker. In her absence, Fi Morris will have the additional responsibility of taking wickets and keeping it tight in the middle overs.

Lancashire Women Predicted Playing XI:

Katie Mack, Fi Morris, Grace Johnson, Ailsa Lister, Eleanor Threlkeld, Seren Smale, Grace Potts, Sophie Morris, Tara Norris, Darcey Carter, Tilly Kesteven

Surrey Women Preview

Surrey Women are one of two teams to remain unbeaten in the Women's Vitality T20 Blast 2025 and are looking like a dominant force early in the season, with some impeccable batting performances in their last two matches. Surrey Women began their season with an eight-wicket win over Somerset Women, making light work of 132 runs.

It was absolute carnage from the Surrey Women against Hampshire Women, where they posted a huge score of 213/4. This was led by Danni Wyatt-Hodges' half-century (62 runs off 41 balls), and the real impact was made by Grace Harris, who scored 63 runs off 35 balls, smashing five fours and four sixes. Paige Scholfield played a quickfire cameo of 49 runs off 18 balls.

Surrey Women then restricted Hampshire Women to 181/8. Grace Harris finished with figures of 3/18 and was the pick of the bowlers alongside Kalea Moore (2/40). This confidence-boosting win puts Surrey Women in a commanding position early in the season.

Danni Wyatt-Hodge, with 115 runs in two matches, is the leading run-scorer for Surrey Women. With the ball, Grace Harris and Corteen-Coleman, with three wickets each, are the top wicket-takers.

Surrey Women Predicted Playing XI:

Danni Wyatt Hodge, Kira Chathli, Alexa Stonehouse, Bryony Smith, Grace Harris, Paige Scholfield, Phoebe Franklin, Danielle Gregory, Kalea Moore, Tash Farrant, Tilly Corteen-Coleman

The pitch at Old Trafford, Manchester, favors bowlers and is a low-scoring ground, with the average first innings score in the 26 Women's T20 matches played at this venue being 130 runs. The conditions favor fast bowlers, as the surface has some additional grass and the new ball is going to be key, with swing on offer. Spinners are likely to be less effective at this venue.

Toss: To Bowl

Teams bowling first won 16 of the 26 Women's T20 matches played at Old Trafford, Manchester and Lancashire Women haven't had much success in defending totals, while Surrey Women will likely look to make most use of the conditions early on and then chase down the target. We predict the team that wins the toss will opt to bowl first.

Surrey Women have been clinical with both bat and ball in the tournament so far. With the g of Grace Harris, Surrey has depth in both departments. In contrast, Lancashire Women lost both matches played at Old Trafford, and their bowling lineup looks weak, which could be the decisive factor on a bowling-friendly track in Manchester.
