Tasmania are hoping for a hat-trick of wins against Queensland when they go up against the fourth-placed outfit in the Sheffield Shield test game. Queensland have been unable to make a difference to their game and they are sitting fourth in the standings after having managed only 7.44 points from the three matches. The team are yet to get success in the season, but the team are building a sizable advantage over the chasing pack. The Tasmanian outfit will be quietly confident after having managed back-to-back successes in this fixture.

Queensland Preview

Queensland failed to make the most of a match against New South Wales, who are also winless in their 2024-25 season. Queensland have struggled against Tasmania in the past. They have suffered back-to-back losses in this fixture with the latest coming in the February 2024 meeting. Queensland have drawn two of the last three matches and they have struggled to assert superiority on the opposition.

The last victory for the Queensland outfit was against South Australia by a significant margin after beating them by nine wickets. In test matches, however, Queensland have found it difficult to pick up victories with the last coming in February 2024 when the team beat Southern Australia.

Ben McDermott is the leading scorer for the team with 207 runs from his four-innings average of 51.75. Even though he is yet to hit a century, McDermott has managed half-centuries already. Jack Clayton comes a close second with 197 runs at an average of 49.25.

Mitchell Swepson is a crucial bowler for the team after having grabbed seven wickets. He is not far away from entering into double figures.

Tasmania Preview

Tasmania are stuck to the bottom of the Sheffield Shield and the match against Queensland appears to be a huge climb for the Tasmanian outfit. So far, they have struggled on several fronts but psychological advantages with the team after having beaten Queensland in back-to-back meetings – including a recent match back in February 2024.

Kieran Elliott has been one of the top bowlers in the Sheffield Shield squad after managing nine wickets from his five innings. Even though he leads the wicket taking charts for Tasmania, Elliott remains as a player still to achieve double figures in the campaign and beyond. Matthew Kuhnemann comes a close second with an average of 39.3 and an economy of 3.21.

A vast majority of Tasmanian cricket fans will be counting heavily on the form of Bradley Hope, who has been able to manage 175 runs from his five innings average of 35. A string of most runs in the squad would go to the likes of Jake Doran and Mitchell Owen, who are not far behind.

Tasmania Predicted Playing XI:

Toss: To Bowl

This is only the second match that will take place at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane for the 2024-25 season. Queensland were able to win the toss in this match and they have been unable to beat the opposition. Queensland lost the game despite having won the toss and choosing to field first.

Queensland are heading into the game after losing the last two outings against Tasmania. However, it has been a difficult campaign for Tasmania who have been stuck to the bottom of the Sheffield Shield this season. Queensland’s home advantage is also likely to help them.
