After two unimpressive outings with the bat, Durham put on a better overall performance in their last match while chasing 194 runs. Despite being 6 down for 94 runs in the 12th over, Durham finished with 187 for 7.

They needed 10 off the last 3 deliveries to beat the Foxes in their last outing. The batting inconsistencies of the top and middle-order batters are a major concern for Durham going into this match.

In their only win so far, Durham lost 7 wickets on their way to a 144-run target. Graham Clark and skipper Alex Lees will be the key batters for Durham in the top order. The two openers have managed to get Durham off to a good start, but failed to convert their individual starts into something more significant.

Skipper Lees has failed miserably with the bat so far. His poor strike rate is also a big issue. Colin Ackerman and Oliver Robinson are quality middle-order batters in the side. There is no dearth of talent and potential in this batting order.

With Ross Whiteley and Fynn Hudson-Prentice at 6 and 7, Derbyshire have some quality finishers too. Skipper Wayne Madsen can hold the fort at number as he builds crucial partnerships with Lloyd or one of the openers.

Samit Patel or Martin Andersson needs to come in at 5 and accelerate the innings with an impactful knock. If Madsen stays around for long, he could allow the number 5 some time to settle down while the skipper himself puts feet on the pedal.
