Friday evening's clash in Canterbury sees the teams in fourth and fifth place in the South Group go head to head, both with ambitions to be among the teams fighting it out at the top of the table.
Kent began this campaign with a narrow four run victory over Gloucestershire in Bristol at the end of last month but were unable to make it two wins from two after the rains came down and their match at Lord's against Middlesex ended following Kent's encouraging innings of 172/9.
As for Surrey, for so long one of the strongest outfits across all formats at this level, this T20 Blast season has got off to a disappointing start with only a narrow victory over Glamorgan sandwiched in between defeats to Somerset by five wickets and Hampshire by 15 runs (DLS).
Three of Surrey's top five made scores in the 30s on Thursday and that will be a clear area of improvement for them as they travel to Kent looking to return to winning ways.

It was a case of a job half-done for Kent and their ers on Thursday evening as a half-century from Zak Crawley at number three, 57 runs from 34 balls, looked set to give them a real chance of making it two wins from two against Middlesex.
However, the English summer weather had other ideas and Kent's bowling attack never got the opportunity to bowl under grey skies as the rain came down, the covers came on and the game never re-started.
A positive for Kent is their bowlers should be nice and fresh for this game only 24 hours later which means the likes of Fred Klaassen and Wes Agar should have no trouble in getting their pace up to a required level.
And with the bat, the form of Crawley means that Kent have a strong middle order which also includes former England internationals Joe Denly and Sam Billings as well as the destructive Chris Benjamin.

Jason Roy is the key man for Surrey and even though he was unable to go beyond 37 runs from 33 balls on Thursday evening against Hampshire he once again finished as the home side's leading run scorer - that's three times now out of three games in this year's T20 Blast!
Captain Sam Curran and the experienced Laurie Evans also got into the 30s but the team management will be looking to that trio and the opening pair of Dom Sibley and Ollie Pope to go big in this clash.
Mitchell Santner has been added to an already impressive bowling group but they were unable to take a wicket from their 8.2 overs in the field against Hampshire.
That should change in Canterbury and in Chris Jordan, Nathan Smith, Tom Curran, his brother Sam and Daniel Worrall, Surrey have one of the strongest bowling units in the competition.

It is supposed to be the summer in the UK but no one has told the weather! Expect overcast skies throughout with a chance of rain showers always a possibility and a high temperature of 14 degrees.
The surface in Canterbury had been dry earlier this season but recent weather should mean there is a bit more for the seam bowlers to work with. A par score is likely to be no higher than 180 in the first innings on Friday evening.
We can expect the conditions to be similar in the first and second innings in this game and after both sides batted first on Thursday we predict they will both want to do the same again in this fixture.
Both teams will feel that they were not given the opportunity to fully showcase their abilities on Thursday evening and we are expecting Surrey to come out on top in Canterbury. Kent have a good middle order but the bowling attack of Surrey should have enough to get the victory.
We are backing Surrey to win!
